My wild life includes you now

By

I can’t help but notice I am sometimes perceived as a small animal on a business as usual road. Some drivers see me and stop to stare, worried, and hoping to get me off the street and onto safe ground. Others drive by with reckless disregard, not caring if they make me roadkill.

I know I appear tiny, erratically moving, and fragile. But I have known these roads, alone, before. I am crossing yours on route to tread my own path. To you I appear wild, lost in the unknown. I trust my instincts.

Your pausing headlights and watchful eyes brighten my new path, and allow me to see my own way in a dark cruel world.

Remember, I lived calloused and starved.

Now, thanks to you, my little paws and revolutionary claws stay warm. My belly remains full for my long journey ahead.
